Project Description

LONG-TERM TESTING Analytical Chemistry Laboratory needed for monthly accelerated aging and analytical testing on his buffered and unbuffered HOCl solutions including once-a-month (or four week interval) analyses of an aqueous solution, for the following:

1. Total active chlorine, in the range 200-500 ppm.
2. Chloride ion, in the range 10-100 ppm.
3. pH of the solution

Chloride and hypochlorite are expected to be present, and each is potentially an interfering species in the analysis of the other.
Samples may also contain sodium and a proprietary organic phosphonate buffer at 1-5 mM concentrations.
The samples are to be stored at room temperature and at 50-60ºC (aging chambers).
At present we have three solutions to be analyzed at room temperature; two future samples will require 50-60ºC storage.
Testing will extend over a period of years.
