Proposed ASTM standard will guide medical device detergent development to help ensure patient safety and health.

The committee on soaps and other detergents is creating standards for characterizing detergents for the cleaning of medical devices. They will identify test methods to help manufacturers describe physical and performance characteristics of their detergents.
