We are a biotech startup with lab space in the POET Bioproducts Center at the SDSU Research Park in Brookings, SD. We develop novel bioproducts from ag commodities and do small to medium CRO jobs. Typical jobs we’ve done are HPLC analysis, NuPAGE protein gels, microbial culturing, and QA/QC.
Dr Matthew Cole earned his PhD in Ag, Biosystems, and Mechanical Engineering from South Dakota State University in 2023 and is the lab PI working with engineers and microbiologists in his lab. His dissertation was on extraction and analysis of target analytes from oilseed meals and shelf-life storage of value-added protein feedstocks. Some of his current work is in cloning novel cell lines that can ferment ag commodities into bioproducts, like surfactants, stimulants, and microbial pesticides.
We have an HPLC with a DAD and RID, Genesys 180 UV-Vis, Qubit 4 Fluorometer, Thermal Cycler, BioSafety Class II Cabinet, MiniGel holder with power source, H2D 3D printer, incubator, oven, fumehood, cell homogenizer, and about everything else a wet lab needs for sample extraction & preparation and sample analysis. We do viable cell enumeration, culturing, and streaking. Cloning cell lines, expressing proteins, performing a NuPAGE gel, and assessing enzymatic activity with UV Vis detection are feasible in our lab.
We have access to Next Generation Sequencing (Illumina and Oxford NanoPore), GC-FID, GC-MS, and HPLC-MS/MS through contracted service providers.
