We are seeking a certified laboratory in Greece or Romania to perform a comprehensive suite of tests on an incoming shipment of military-grade nitrocellulose. The required analyses include:
Nitrogen Content: Determination via Kjeldahl or Dumas combustion methods to assess energy potential.
Solubility Test: Evaluation of solubility in alcohol-ether and acetone to determine cellulose nitrate purity and plasticizer compatibility.
Viscosity: Measurement using Ubbelohde or Ostwald viscometer to indicate polymer chain length, crucial for ballistic properties.
Ash Content: Quantification to detect inorganic residues, with a typical limit of <0.05%.
Moisture Content: Assessment via Karl Fischer titration or drying oven method, aiming for <1% to ensure stability.
Heat Stability Test: Evaluation by heating 1g at 134°C and observing color change, ensuring no change within 2 hours as per standard.
Acidity (pH or Free Acid Test): Measurement of residual acids, requiring pH to be neutral or slightly acidic.
Bulk Density / Particle Size: Analysis for consistent performance in loading applications.
These tests should comply with NATO STANAG 4170, AOP-7, and U.S. MIL-SPEC standards such as MIL-DTL-24461 and MIL-STD-286.
Please contact us if your laboratory can perform these analyses and provide certification in accordance with the specified standards.
