MIL-STD Flat Ballistic Prototype Testing
Project Description
MULTIPLE TESTING
USA Performance Laboratory needed for MIL-STD Testing of Dyneema+Boron Carbide flat ballistic prototype. We have designed this plate to be 100% resistant to 7.62 P80 at 100 yards. We are hoping to test this to prove or disprove our initial design and we are also potentially wanting to test against 7.62 APM2 rounds.
Could you provide us with two quotes:
1. The first quote for just doing V50 testing for the 7.62 P80 in accordance with MIL-STD-662F.
a. Shot spacing of ~3-4?.
i. I am approximating for this number. We are open to
recommendations for this if you think another shot spacing
would be better based on your experience.
b. Intended defendable shot velocity at V0 performance is 2560 fps
with an estimated tolerance of +/- 50 fps.
2. For the second Quote:
a. Shoot the plate with 7.62 P80 at 2560 +/- 50 fps using 3 shots.
i. 1 shot at the center within a 1 inch radius.
ii. 1 shot within 0.15 inches of the edge of the tile but at least 0.5
inches away from the corner.
iii. The third shot in the middle of the distance between the first two.
b. On the same plate:
i. Perform V50 testing for APM2 with a shot spacing of ~3-4? with
the remaining space on the plate.
ii. We are open to recommendations for shot spacing.
iii. If there is not enough room to perform true V50 testing (3 partial
and 3 complete penetrations), that is acceptable.
Please let me know if there are any questions.
Thanks,
Joshua Miller
